Creamline proved steadier in the endgame, thwarting Nxled in a grueling thriller to eke out a 25-16, 22-25, 25-21, 15-25, 15-10 win in the 2026 PVL Open Conference on Saturday at the Filoil Centre.
The troika of Tots Carlos, Bernadeth Pons, and Jema Galanza provided the finishing spark as the Cool Smashers surged to their fifth win for a 5-1 card while the Chameleons absorbed their fourth straight loss to go 3-4.
Galanza top-scored with 19 points, including four points that closed out a 6-3 run for Creamline in the deciding frame, while Pons churned out 18 markers laced with 13 digs. Carlos chipped in 16 points while Jeanette Panaga chimed in with 13.
Carlos’ combination allowed Creamline to seize a 6-3 start in Set 5 before Galanza’s three straight points extended a 9-7 lead to a 13-8 cushion.
Nxled still tried to catch up with the Cool Smashers with Brooke Van Sickle burying a kill from the left side and denying Galanza on the opposite side, pulling the Chameleons to just three, 10-13.
But Galanza redeemed herself in the succeeding play by completing a combination hammer off a timeout before Pons delivered the game-winning spike as Creamline survived the brave Nxled stand.
Van Sickle shone in the loss after she dropped 28 points anchored on 24 attacks, three blocks, and one ace while Myla Pablo chipped in 22 markers.
Meanwhile, Akari charges to its ithird win in a row after shaking off a slow start en route to a 17-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-17 victory over Capital1.
Akari, which was coming off a four-set romp against Nxled and a grueling five-set escape against Cignal, improved to 3-3 while the Solar Spikers fell to a 3-4 card.
