“Throughout my career, even when I first came here from Canada, I’ve always gone off my instincts,” Puno told reporters on Monday. “I’ve been with San Beda for a few years now, and over the last two years, I’ve been dealing with injuries.”
“We ended on a good note, we won the championship, and I was able to play in the finals, so I was happy with that. But now that I’m reaching that point in my career where I want to take the next step, I really want to focus on my body. I want to prioritize rehab and preparation, because college basketball here is very high-intensity. I just want to enter my pro years in good shape,” he added.
For Puno, transitioning to 3×3 is also a way to further develop his skills while he considers his next move.
“I thought it’s a good way to train, also mentally, especially playing against pros,” he said. “For now, I’m just going to continue playing 3×3.”
Will he suit up for San Beda next season for his final playing year?
“Probably not,” Puno admitted.
“Yeah, I’ll keep playing 3×3, and I have other plans with my agent. Hopefully, things work out. We have some good opportunities coming up.”
